Packing

You may not be aware of major regulations effecting packed goods being

sent to overseas destinations -which are now internationaly in force.

It is now essential that the timber used for packages, pallets and also for blocking and securing goods into containers must be treated to ISPM 15 standards. The timber should be so marked and it is adviseable to hold a written certificate from the packer or supplier confirming the materials comply to ISPM15 regulations.

If a container arrives at the foreign port and is found to contain untreated timber the authorities have the right to return the container to sender at senders cost, It is also probable that the costs incurred by Customs, Health Authorites and the port concerned will be payable before the containerload is released for return.

This can be a considerable expence and a serious delay to the order.
